Master Classes and "Group Lessons To Go"
At the request of singing groups – bands, church or community choirs, worship teams, etc. – I will travel to students within most of New England and teach a group lesson on vocal technique. These lessons may take place in rehearsal studios, churches, schools or even private homes.
Besides the convenience of being able to bring the vocal instructor to your group, as opposed to having to coordinate travel arrangements for everyone to attend a workshop, my “group lessons to go” service is a more affordable approach to taking lessons. The larger the group, the lower the cost will likely be for each individual taking the lesson that day.
As with all of my group workshops, I will cover the basics of good, healthy singing technique. These fundamental skills will include correct breathing, tonal balance, vocal tract shaping, vocal registration and vowel modification. Vocal anatomy and vocal health will also be discussed. I will offer warm-up exercises, followed by other practical exercises that will help to develop the singers’ vocal skills. Ample time for questions during the lesson will be given, and students will receive informational handouts that will outline the topics covered during the lesson. Students will also be invited to contact me via e-mail with any vocal technique questions that they might have following the group workshop.
Choir directors or band leaders may contact me to discuss fees for the group workshop, as well as how I could tailor the lesson to the particular needs of the group. Depending on the size of the group, lessons will generally last for two or three hours.
